On Friday, Nov. 28, 2014, the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis, was the setting of the marriage uniting Matthew Ryne Spaniol, of St. Louis, and Jenilee Ann Novotney, also of St. Louis, both formerly of Streator. The 3 p.m. Nuptial Mass was officiated by the Rev. Monsignor Joseph D. Pins.
The bride is the daughter of Michael Novotney, of Streator, and the late Eunice Novotney. She is the granddaughter of Faith Ramratten, of Florida, and the late Sam Ramratten as well as the late Gene and Dolores Novotney. The groom is the son of Diane and Phillip Spaniol, of rural Streator, and the grandson of Ed and Marcie Leskanich, of Ancona, and the late Betty and Larry Spaniol.
Before the double ring ceremony, the bride was given away in marriage by her father. Matron of honor for her sister was Alexa Green, of South Carolina. Best men were brothers of the groom, Ben Spaniol, of rural Streator, and Luke Spaniol, also of rural Streator. Ring bearer was nephew of the bride, Levi Green, of South Carolina, and flower girl, Maiya Lansford, of Streator. Troy Bertsche, of Flanagan, brother-in-law of the groom, Brent Albertson, of Princeton University, N.J., and Mason Green, of South Carolina, brother-in-law of the bride, greeted guests. Readers were sister of the groom, Sara Spaniol, of Morton, Elizabeth Ruiz, of Plainfield, and cousin of the groom, Zak Leskanich, of Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary in Minnesota. Gifting the water, hosts and wine were Katie L. Bertsche, of Flanagan, sister of the groom, and Erin Harcar, of St. Louis University, future sister-in-law of the groom.
Dinner and dancing followed at the reception at Windows on Washington in St. Louis.
The new Mrs. Spaniol graduated from Streator Township High School in 2002. She is employed as a geriatric nurse at a health care facility in St. Louis. Mr. Spaniol is a 2004 Woodland High School graduate and 2008 Southern Illinois University-Carbondale graduate. He is employed as an engineer in his sixth year in St. Louis.
After a honeymoon in Montego Bay, Jamaica, the couple resides in St. Louis with plans to relocate in Fenton, Mo.
A rehearsal dinner and family thanksgiving celebration took place at the groom’s loft apartment on Thursday after a Mass at the Cathedral Basilica.
